Zoo Med introduced the first American reptile vitamin in 1982 and never looked back! Today the company holds 8 reptile product patents and 9 aquatic product patents in the USA and internationally with more pending.
Zoo Med’s greatest accomplishment has been the invention of UVB lighting for reptiles, which took place in 1993 and became the standard the world over for Zoos, Veterinarians and the reptile hobbyist. The current range includes products for reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds.
Zoo Med Laboratories, Inc. is never satisfied with the status quo when it comes to efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. Zoo Med’s consideration for green values directs the company on its journey toward the appreciation and preservation of wildlife and the natural environment. Transferred our entire product line from chemical resin (VOC – volatile organic compounds) to plant based resin.

All of our UPS shipments are going out with the carbon neutral option in order to reduce our carbon footprint.
2011 Green Directive:

Moved our entire glass terrarium line from China to manufacturing in the U.S.
This will eliminate 70 forty foot containers in 2011. The equivalent to 200,000 carbon units, 45.5 tons of carbon or taking 114 cars off the road for one year!!! -
All Turtle Docks will be made of soy urethane (eco resin) in 2011.

All resin products will be made of eco plant based resins in 2011.
